Maryanne Rainone, SVP and MD at Heyman Associates tells PRWeek magazine that CEO counselors, digital media specialists, public affairs pros and healthcare communicators are among the roles that have increasing security in the current PR job market. Here’s a quick look at each:

CEO Counselor:  C-suite reputation management gurus will be increasingly needed given the state of the current economy.

Digital Media Specialist: PR pros who know how to best leverage digital tools to engage online audiences will continue to be sought after.

Public Affairs Pros: Federal public affairs jobs supporting Obama’s comms strategy are still being filled.

Healthcare Communications:  Demand in the converging areas of regulatory, product PR and digtal healthcare comms is holding steady.

The lines between digital and traditional media channels are increasing blurring and audiences are more fragmented than ever before, according to the third annual Media Myths & Realities survey of 1,500 consumers from the US, UK and Brazil.

Overall media usage highlights:

  • National newspapers are key info sources in the UK and Brazil.
  • Blogs are gaining traction in the US and Brazil.
  • Cable network news is growing in importance.
  • Shopping sites are information destinations.
  • Magazines are winners in Brazil.

The Top 25 Most Valuable Blogs

24/7 Wall Street just released it 25 Most Valuable Blogs list. Gawker, Huffington Post, GigaOm and Politico were among the leaders. This year’s list excludes blogs which are part of larger companies, those which are used as fronts for other businesses,  and blogs  that do not have revenue.  To assess financial value,  24/7 looked at unique visitors, pageviews, estimated CPMs, audience growth, revenue and operating income, among other criteria.

Here’s the list:

  1. Gawker Properties — $170 million.
  2. Huffington Post — $90 million.
  3. The Drudge Report — $48 million.
  4. Perez Hilton — $32 million.
  5. Sugar, Inc — $27 million.
  6. TechCrunch — $25 million.

  10. Politico — $8.7 million.
